I took down my baby jail when the girls turned 1 (follow this link if you havent read my original post on baby jail ( http://simplysullivan.blogspot.com/2008/07/my-formal-apology.html ) I decided that they needed more room to learn how to move around. A week later Maddie started walking, so who knows how long I stunted their growth leaving them in a 6 ft by 6 ft pen. It was marvelous confinement though. Anyways, now there is no where to confine them, except in their cribs. We pretty much have the entire house baby proofed, so there are few things they can actually get into that would hurt them if I wasnt watching them for a few minutes.
I had just gotton home from Walmart with the girls. The process goes something like this. Park in the garage, get out baby #1 and go into the house. Turn on the Wiggles and put her down with the toys in the family room. Go back down into the basement/garage and get baby #2. Put her in front of the Wiggles and toys. Go back down into the basement/garage for the groceries for how ever many trips it takes me. Every trip put the groceries on the counter because if they go on the floor the kids will be all in them. I had all but 1 bag unpacked when my phone rang. The girls were being loud, so I went into my bedroom to take the call.
Any parent of a toddler will tell you that the worst nose they can hear, besides the sound of their child crashing to the floor, is silence (which is usually followed by your child crashing to the floor). I was mid-phone call when I heard it....absolutely nothing. I open my bedroom door and dont see them in the family room, but oddly hear maracas. I dont know about you, but we dont have maracas in the house. I quickly got off the phone and followed the noise to the kitchen where I saw this.
I dont know how, but they pulled my newly purchased Halloween candy (Nerds) down from the counter and managed to open the bag. They then were just shaking as many of the boxes as they could get in their hands. Needless to say, Halloween came early for the girls today.

I wanted to see them all dressed up! I guess the blog will have to do. My mother-in-law hung lantern ghosts above our door. I hope you can see them at some point over the next few days...they were really cute from the couch!!!
I just read your post on the "baby jail"... I think it's a great idea.. however, right now (being childless) I just don't see how I could ever use a leash for my child. maybe I'll warm up to when I've got little one running off! :)
what a surprise that you bought nerds for halloween....surprised that you didn't get smarties..speaking of - Larry was doing some repairs in my bathroom and he asked if you still ate skittles and smarties.
Hey Kristen, want to loan out that baby jail? Or want some $$ for it??
I'm in desperate need of some confinement less I lose my sanity!!!
Think it over and call me!!

On the subject of "baby jail"... we had the exact same one for Molly. It was fabulous - I was sad to see it go, but once she started walking, escaping came so easily :-p
